About lottohelper.ca
lottohelper.ca is a small, independent reference site about Canada's two national lotto games, Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49. It is written and maintained by NextGen, an independent publisher based in British Columbia, Canada.
Why this site exists
Search for lotto results and you will find two kinds of pages: the official lottery sites, which are accurate but scattered across provinces, and "helper" sites that wrap the same numbers in hot-number charts, lucky-number generators and promises of a system. This site tries to be the useful middle: an honest, easy-to-read archive of results, plus guides that answer practical questions — how the games and prizes work, how to claim, what is taxed, and how to avoid scams — with the official sources linked so you can check every claim yourself.
Who writes it
The site is run by NextGen from British Columbia. Guides are researched from the rules, game conditions and help pages published by BCLC, the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC), OLG, the Canada Revenue Agency and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, and each guide lists the sources it relies on. NextGen is not a lawyer, accountant or employee of any lottery corporation; where a question needs professional advice (large prizes, taxes on investment income, estate planning) the guides say so.
How the results archive is built
After midnight Pacific time each night, a script reads WCLC's public winning-number pages for Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49. A draw is added to the archive only if:
- the draw date parses cleanly and falls on the right weekday (Tuesday or Friday for Lotto Max, Wednesday or Saturday for Lotto 6/49);
- the right count of distinct main numbers and a bonus number are present; and
- the draw is recent enough to be the result being reported.
If a check fails, the previous verified data stays on the site and the run is flagged for a human to look at. Jackpot amounts are taken from what WCLC advertises; they are never estimated or invented. The archive pages then recalculate simple descriptive statistics — frequencies, odd/even splits, sums — and compare them with the exact long-run probabilities, so readers can see how ordinary "streaks" look.
What changed in October 2026
Earlier versions of this site created a separate page after every draw. Those pages repeated the same layout with new numbers and included a "suggested line" of numbers. Neither was useful: the pages added nothing the official sites do not already show, and no method can suggest better numbers for an independent random draw. They have been retired. All results now live in two archives — Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49 — and the effort goes into guides instead.
What this site will never do
- Sell lottery tickets, take bets or link to offshore ticket resellers.
- Claim that any number, pattern or tool improves your chance of winning.
- Ask for your ticket, ticket photo, barcode or personal information.
- Encourage you to spend more than you planned — see responsible play.
Independence and advertising
lottohelper.ca is not affiliated with, endorsed by or paid by BCLC, WCLC, OLG, Loto-Québec, Atlantic Lottery or the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation. "Lotto Max", "Lotto 6/49", "Gold Ball", "MaxMillions", "Extra" and "Encore" are names belonging to their respective owners and are used only to identify the games being described. The site may display advertising served by Google AdSense to cover hosting costs; advertisers have no say over content. How advertising cookies work is explained in the privacy policy.
Corrections and contact
If a result, rule or figure here disagrees with an official source, the official source is correct — and we want to know. The contact page explains how to reach NextGen and how corrections are handled.
